Some Additions To Our 2024 Dive Season

Some Additions To Our 2024 Dive Season

Our local 2024 dive season will officially start at the beginning of June after I return back to Canada from my Little Cayman (and South America) trip in May. In addition to Cedar Hill and Shanty Bay which I mentioned already in a previous post about our likely 2024 dive season, we are added back some dive sites we use to go to before I moved up north here to Collingwood.

As I mentioned in that last post, I would encourage our GTA and southern based divers to make the trip up north to dive both Cedar Hill and Shanty Bay for awesome underwater features. Shanty Bay has some nice size resident bass fish and Cedar Hill has the superior Georgian Bay visibility along with the most underwater features of any local dive site. These two northern sites will give our southern divers some really different dive experiences that they won’t get at Humber Bay.

Adding Welland Back To Our Dive Season

On a similar logic, we will also be scheduling Welland Scuba Park/Swing Bridge back as one of our official dive locations. It will be a long day trip for our northern based divers but much like with new experiences up north for our southern based divers, Welland (and Humber Bay) will give new experiences for our northern divers too.

Welland’s wreck filled with fish during the summer season has always been a great experience for our southern divers and I would tell our northern divers that this is an experience that will be totally worth the long drive. Welland is actually a two dive location as we usually dive the Swing Bridge five minutes away from the scuba park as well. Here are videos of our past dives at both the Welland Scuba Park and the Swing Bridge.

Welland Scuba Park
Swing Bridge

The Welland Scuba Park starts to get busy with local residents as well as the paddling club there who also use the site especially during the summer months. So we’ll try to schedule a first trip there in June. Adding Welland back to our dive season will also hope to see some of our past divers who are local to that area too which would make a great social mix with our visiting northern divers.

We’ll also still make it back to Humber Bay every couple of weeks since it’s an easy place to dive and there are some interesting features underwater worth checking out. However, since the parking gets crazy there due to Toronto scuba schools running dive classes every weekend morning, we’ll strategically schedule our Humber Bay dives during the long weekends as the main dive school who uses that location in the morning tends to not conduct their regular session on long weekends.

Weekend Dive Trips

We’ve added two weekend dive trips to our season. As a group we’ll be returning back to Brockville so northern and southern based divers alike can experience the awesome shore dives there as well as the Underwater Sculptures Park. We’ll also run our Northern Dive Weekend to combine Tobermory shore dives plus Cedar Hill over one weekend. Both of these weekend dive trips are already posted at our Events section where our regular Saturday dives are also posted.

Possible Night Dive

We’ve done night dives in the past at both Welland Scuba Park as well as Humber Bay West but logistics might prevent us from repeating at these locations. We’ll try to schedule a possible night dive somewhere this season if possible since they are great experiences for divers.

International Fly Away Dive Trips

Although I’m starting my own dive season at Little Cayman, I’ll likely plan another international fly away dive trip in the fall season months and will post it as well. Everyone will be welcome to join in but it will likely be a big trip involving long overseas travel with a possible liveaboard trip.
