The Rest Of This Ski Season

The Rest Of This Ski Season

Looks like our Ski Social Days were not successful as a replacement for our Ski Training days from past winters. Without the structure of organized scheduled ski lesson classes, the Ski Social Days were just not enough of a draw so as a result, no more of these will be posted.

My own personal home life has changed which will change what might be available for our ski group this winter. Due to the passing of my beloved dog Roxie who was 18 years, 10 months old, I’m no longer in any hurry to rush home after my morning ski training sessions.

I’m still skiing daily starting at about 8:30 am for first tracks at Blue Mountain with my own ski training for two hours ending at about 10:30 am. At that time, I’m still available to do ski video analysis and other ‘special requests’. If I have nothing else going on, I’ll be willing to stay around and ski socially with other skiers until lunchtime at about 11:30 am. I’m going to start bringing my lunch on weekdays.

If snow conditions hold, I’ll be willing to ski socially for another hour or two after lunch since again, I have no need to get home by any particular time. I’ll be fatigued enough from my own ski training earlier in the morning that I won’t mind skiing slower for the rest of the day.

On weekends this might be a different matter because of the bigger crowds and lift lines. My morning ski training time starting at 8:30 am remains the same and I’m willing to stay around longer. However, how long I stay around to ski socially will largely depend on whether we can find adequate areas of Blue Mountain that are still relatively easy to get on lift lines without standing for an extended wait period. I would much rather socialize with our ski members over lunch or coffee inside than spending too much time waiting outside to get on the chairlifts once the weekend crowds arrive in full force.

So if any of our group skiers want to come up and ski with us, just contact me in advance and hopefully I’ll have an idea of what’s happening for any particular date.

One thing I will point out to our skiers who want to come out to ski socially — please don’t ask me to look at their ski technique during any ski social time. This is what our ski video analysis and ‘special requests’ are for. I ask that you would respect my time during ski socials as I have no intention to turn any of our ski social time into ski lessons.

Now you might ask – what’s up with the IKON photo up top? Well because of the change in my own home life, I’m suddenly free to travel again. Although at the time of this post I have nothing confirmed, there is a good chance that I may be doing some ski travel to IKON covered ski areas before this season ends. If any skiers might be interested to ski travel (if they haven’t already done so on their own or with their own social circles), feel free to contact me and I’ll update you on any possible ski travels on my end.
